In a warehouse or factory, a goods lift that stops can stop the job. Stock sits on the wrong floor, orders back up, and staff end up carrying loads on the stairs that they shouldn’t be carrying.
We maintain, inspect and repair goods lifts and industrial lifts across the North West and Yorkshire. Our engineers hold IOSH and CSCS qualifications, complete your site inductions and are on call 24/7 for breakdowns.
Choosing the Right Industrial Lift
The right lift depends on what you’re moving, how often, and between which floors. Tell us the heaviest load, the size of pallets or trolleys, whether people need to travel with the goods, and how many trips a day the lift makes, and we’ll recommend the right type.
-
Goods Lifts:
For pallets, heavy stock and large equipment. Goods-only lifts don't carry passengers, so they need a LOLER thorough examination every twelve months rather than every six.
-
Goods Passenger Lifts:
Where staff need to travel with the load, such as with a pallet truck or cage. These carry people, so they're examined every six months.
-
Service and Trolley Lifts:
Smaller lifts for trolleys, parts and stock, keeping them off the stairs.
-
Platform Lifts:
Step-free access to mezzanine offices and raised areas.
-
Vehicle Lifts:
For moving vehicles between levels in workshops, warehouses and depots.

LOLER and PUWER for Industrial Lifts
Lifts used at work fall under two sets of regulations. LOLER covers lifting equipment and sets how often it must be thoroughly examined: every six months for lifts that carry people, and at least every twelve months for goods-only lifts. PUWER covers all work equipment and requires it to be maintained in a safe condition.
In practice, that means regular servicing, a thorough examination on schedule, and a written report you can show your insurer or an HSE inspector. We provide all three, and we’ll tell you straight if a lift isn’t safe to use.
Why Goods Lifts Wear Out Faster
Industrial lifts take a lot of punishment. Overloading, pallet trucks knocking door edges, dust and constant use all take their toll, and a lift that’s been quietly struggling can fail without much warning.
On a maintenance visit, our engineers check the wire ropes, hydraulics, door mechanisms, overload detection, overspeed governors and car frame, and sort out small problems before they turn into breakdowns that stop production.
Working Around Your Operation
We agree visit times with your site or facilities manager and fit around shifts, deliveries and production where we can. Our engineers complete your site inductions and follow your rules, and every member of the team holds NVQ, IOSH, CSCS and asbestos qualifications and Full Disclosure clearance.
If an old goods lift keeps breaking down, refurbishment of the controls, doors and drive can often fix it for much less than a new lift, and we can phase the work around your busy periods.
Our Industrial Lift Services
We service most goods lifts every three months under a maintenance contract, carry out LOLER examinations on schedule, and give contract customers priority when a lift breaks down mid-shift. For new units, extensions and mezzanines, we also install new lifts.

Industrial Lift FAQs
A goods-only lift needs a LOLER thorough examination at least every twelve months. Any lift that carries people, including goods passenger lifts, needs one every six months.
LOLER covers lifting equipment and how often it must be thoroughly examined. PUWER covers all work equipment and requires it to be kept in a safe condition through maintenance. Most lifts in industrial buildings fall under both.
Only if it’s designed and certified as a goods passenger lift. If staff need to travel with loads, tell us and we’ll check what your lift is rated for.
