Five Lift Repairs
Repairs
Belts, Pulleys, Doors and Brakes
Result
All Five Lifts Back in Service
The Challenge
When a lift breaks down, the building feels it straight away. Shoppers and staff lose access between floors, goods stop moving and people are left using the stairs.
These five repairs came in from sites across Manchester and Yorkshire. Each was a different fault on a different type of lift, from a platform lift to a Microlift service lift. In every case our engineers needed to find the cause, fit the right part and test the lift before handing it back.
Our Approach
Here is what our engineers found on each job and how they fixed it.
Drive Belt Replacement on a Movemann Platform Lift
The drive belts on a Movemann platform lift had worn and needed replacing. Our engineer fitted a new matched set of belts between the motor and the screw drive, set the tension and ran the lift through its full travel to check it before putting it back into service.
Car Top Divertor Pulley Replacement
A bearing had failed in the divertor pulley on top of the lift car. A failed bearing puts extra wear on the pulley and the ropes running over it, and left alone it can damage both. We replaced the pulley and checked the ropes before returning the lift to service.
BKG Car Retiring Ramp
The retiring ramp on the lift car works the door locks as the car arrives at and leaves each floor. When it fails, the doors cannot open and close properly and the lift stops working. Our engineer dealt with the fault on the BKG retiring ramp and tested the doors at every floor before handing the lift back.
Four Landing Doors in a Busy Retail Store
Four landing doors at a busy retail store had been damaged through misuse, taking the lift out of action. Our engineers sorted all four doors, checked they opened, closed and locked correctly at each floor, then cleaned them before handing the lift back to the store.
Microlift Brake and Disc Lining Upgrade
The brake and disc linings on a Microlift service lift had worn to the point where the lift was stalling. Rather than keep patching the old unit, we upgraded the brake and fitted new disc linings so the lift stops and holds reliably again.
Project Completion
All five lifts were returned to service. Each job followed the same process: find the cause of the fault, fit the right part and test the lift fully before handing it back.
The Result
Five buildings across Manchester and Yorkshire had their lifts back in action. If your lift has broken down or is showing signs of wear, such as stalling, noisy running or doors that will not close properly, our engineers can find the fault and fix it.
