Commercial Lifts

In an office or commercial building, the lift is part of what tenants pay for. When it keeps breaking down, staff are late, visitors are stuck in reception, and you start getting emails from tenants and their facilities teams.

We maintain, repair and install commercial lifts across the North West and Yorkshire, working directly with building owners and with property managers including LSPIM. The business was started in 2019 by Andy Verey after 27 years in the lift industry, and we offer 24/7 call-outs with priority for contract customers.

Switching Your Lift Maintenance Contractor

Some of our clients came to us after switching from another lift company, including one who left a large international firm because they weren’t happy with the service. As Crown Hill put it, we responded immediately, arranged a visit within a few working days and had everything up and running soon after.

If you’re thinking of switching, we’ll come and look at your lifts, tell you honestly what condition they’re in, and give you a clear price for looking after them. Before you sign, check your current contract’s notice period so you know when you can move.

What Commercial Lifts Need

Office lifts work hardest at the start and end of the day and over lunch, when everyone moves at once. In multi-let buildings, tenants notice a slow or unreliable lift quickly, and it can make space harder to let.

There’s also access to think about. Businesses and public buildings are expected to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people under the Equality Act 2010, and new buildings and major refurbishments need to meet Part M of the Building Regulations. A working lift is central to both.

Commercial Lifts We Work On

  • Passenger Lifts:

The main lifts in office blocks and public buildings. We keep them running reliably through the busiest times of day and levelling accurately at every floor.

  • Glass Lifts:

Feature lifts in modern offices, atriums and public buildings. We install, maintain and repair them.

  • Platform Lifts:

Step-free access to raised ground floors and mezzanines where a full lift shaft isn't practical.

  • Goods Lifts:

Move post, stock, IT equipment and furniture between floors without tying up the passenger lifts.

  • Car Lifts:

Lift parking systems and vehicle lifts for car parks, showrooms and buildings where space is tight.

Looking After Lifts Across a Portfolio

If you manage several buildings, we can look after all of their lifts, with servicing and LOLER inspections scheduled for you. We agree visit times with you or your on-site team, avoid the busiest parts of the day where we can, and tell you how long each lift will be out of use so you can let tenants know.

After every visit, we tell you what we found and what, if anything, needs doing next, so you can plan budgets rather than react to breakdowns.

Our Commercial Lift Services

For most office buildings, that means a service every three months, a LOLER thorough examination every six months for passenger lifts (twelve for goods-only lifts) and fast repairs when something fails. Where a lift is tired or unreliable, modernising the controls, doors or drive usually costs far less than replacing it.

TESTIMONIALS

What Our Clients Say

We’re rated 4.9 on Google and Trustpilot. Here’s what some of our clients have told us.

“We were not satisfied with our existing lift maintenance suppliers (a large international organisation), so contacted Vertical Lift Services. They responded immediately and an initial visit was arranged within a few working days. Simply cannot fault their service. We have now contracted our ongoing maintenance with them and would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone needing their services.”

Crown Hill

“I just wanted to express how impressed I am with the work and repairs carried out by Vertical Lift Services North West. All staff and engineers are lovely and extremely professional.”

EP Properties

“John was brilliant, explained everything he had come to do and sent his findings to head office. Cheerful, friendly and would recommend him to anyone.”

Wendy Perkins

“We recently started using Vertical Lift Services North West and thus far have been very impressed. The level of service and communication has been second to none. What I thought was standard service with the old company turns out to be shocking compared to VLS. Andy and the team actually care about the condition of my lifts and give a level of service we are just not used to.”

Commercial Lift FAQs

How easy is it to switch lift maintenance company?

Check your current contract’s notice period, then get in touch. We’ll look at your lifts, tell you what condition they’re in and give you a clear price.

How often should an office lift be serviced?

Most are serviced every three months. Passenger lifts also need a LOLER thorough examination every six months, and goods-only lifts every twelve months.

Can you look after lifts across several buildings?

Yes. We look after everything from a single lift to lifts across several sites, with servicing and inspections scheduled for you.

What happens if someone is trapped?

Call us on 01744 555006 at any time and tell us someone is trapped. We’re on call 24/7, and contract customers are seen first.

Is it worth refurbishing an old office lift?

Often, yes. New controls, doors or a drive can make an unreliable lift dependable again for much less than a replacement. We’ll inspect it and tell you which option makes sense.
